Our Admissions Process
Choosing a school is an important decision, and we want the enrollment process to be a positive experience for both children and families. At Canandaigua Montessori School, we take time to get to know each family and each child so that we can determine whether our program is a supportive and appropriate environment for their individual needs.
1. Schedule a Tour
The first step is to visit our school! During your tour, we will introduce you to our Montessori environment, talk about your child and your family’s needs, and answer any questions you may have about our program.
2. Meet Your Child
We ask that prospective students have an opportunity to visit the classroom before enrollment. Whenever possible, this takes place during the initial tour.
During the visit, your child may spend a few minutes with a teacher in the classroom while you remain nearby. This is a relaxed opportunity for our teachers to begin getting to know your child and for your child to experience the classroom environment.
There is no test or expectation that your child perform in a particular way. We understand that children may respond differently to a new environment, and our goal is simply to learn more about how we can best support your child.
3. Complete an Application
Following the tour and classroom visit, families who would like to move forward may complete our Application for Admission. Applications are reviewed as part of our enrollment process, and submitting an application does not automatically guarantee placement.
4. Enrollment & Placement
Our goal is to create classrooms in which all children can learn, develop independence, and feel a strong sense of belonging. As we consider enrollment and classroom placement, we look at the needs of the individual child, the classroom environment, available space, and our ability to provide an appropriate and supportive Montessori experience.
Because every child and classroom community is unique, enrollment decisions are made thoughtfully and individually. In some situations, we may determine that another program or educational setting may be better suited to a child’s particular needs at that time.
5. Enrollment Confirmation
Once a placement has been offered, families will receive the necessary enrollment paperwork and tuition contract. Enrollment is finalized once all required forms, fees, and agreements have been completed.

We believe the best enrollment decisions are made when families and schools work together. Our process allows us to get to know your child, answer your questions, and make sure that Canandaigua Montessori School is an environment where your child can feel comfortable, supported, connected, and ready to grow.
Canandaigua Montessori School is proud to be licensed as a private school under the New York State Department of Education as well as The Office of Children and Family Services. With that, all enrolled children must have updated vaccines in order to attend. Medical exemptions are accepted.
Enrollment Paperwork
Financial Information
Canandaigua Montessori School accepts Child Care Assistance through DSS and Military Payments from Child Care Aware. We offer in-house scholarships as well. Please see the link below for more information. Scholarship applications for the 2026 – 2027 school year are due by June 12, 2026.
